Education: Technical & Vocational
Residents of Dearborn County and surrounding areas have many excellent opportunities for vocational education. The county is located near a career center and contains a community college. Vocational and technical schools help create a skilled and diverse labor force. These skilled laborers fill positions vital to today's diversified economy.
Southeastern Career Center (SCC)
The career center in Versailles, Indiana, is located just 26 miles from Lawrenceburg and 21 miles from Aurora. The Southeastern Career Center provides students with technical skills integrated with academic knowledge and offers GED classes to those residents not attending school.
Schools in six counties send nearly 800 students to the SCC; East Central, Lawrenceburg, and South Dearborn High Schools in Dearborn County send over 160 students to the SCC. These students attend their high school for half of the day, and attend classes at the SCC during the other half.
The SCC offers the following one year programs: A+ Computer Repair, Cisco Networking, Digital Media, Law Enforcement, and Medical Careers Tech.

Vocational and Technical Colleges
Dearborn County's own Ivy Tech Community College is a key resource for continuing education, for local businesses, and for high school students pursuing advanced studies. Ivy Tech opened in Lawrenceburg in 1977 and expanded in 1999 to a new two-story building due to growing demand for technical and vocational skills.
In addition to county resources, there are numerous technical and vocational colleges located throughout the Tri-State area. There are more than 55 schools in the Greater Cincinnati region offering a variety of programs such as nursing, court reporting and broadcasting.
